We are dedicated to the well being of all our patients and will be available for emergency care for pain swelling and infection as well as for urgent care which requires timely treatment.
As health care professionals, we all have a role to play in “flattening the curve” by following sound, scientific public health advice to help limit infections and slow the spread of the virus.
Bearing this in mind, we are carefully screening all scheduled and necessary treatment. and only seeing patients for emergency or urgent care. We take seriously the need to be available for our patients to avoid unnecessary illness or injury as well as preventing burdening our hospitals and emergency rooms.
We will reschedule all canceled appointments in a timely manner upon returning to the office and appreciate your understanding under the current circumstances.
We will continue to closely monitor the latest information and recommendations to promote a safe and healthy environment for our patients and staff. We plan to be available to provide safe and optimal care on this limited basis.
Our infection control procedures fully cover the COVID-19 virus, as they do all infectious diseases. We are taking extra precautions in screening our employees and patients, along with sterilizing the common areas of our office often.
We look forward to seeing you at your scheduled appointments. Please call the office if you have any questions or concerns, and we will be happy to address them.
Protecting you and your smile, The Mugford Center
What Are the Symptoms of Trench Mouth?
Posted on 3/20/2020 by David Mugford
No one wants to find out they have trench mouth. Just the name alone is enough to make people groan in agony. The problem is that although many people may have heard of the term, trench mouth, that does not mean they know what it is and what the symptoms are. Understanding what it is makes it easier to know what to look for and what to do about it.
What is It?
Trench mouth is a serious infection of the gums. It is often a result of poor oral hygiene habits. Trench mouth is an aggressive form of gum disease. Other names for trench mouth include:
Acute necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis
Necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis
It occurs most often in teenagers and young adults. It is more common in underdeveloped countries.
Anyone suffering from trench mouth will typically suffer from several different symptoms. Common symptoms include:
Bleeding when brushing
Ulcers in the mouth
A grayish film on the gums
Swollen, red or bleeding gums
Some of the causes of trench mouth include poor oral hygiene, poor nutrition, smoking and tobacco use, stress, infections in the mouth and diabetes. Combining the causes with the symptoms can help a person recognize the problem. Another way to find out if you suffer from trench mouth is by visiting our office. Unfortunately, since the most common causes of trench mouth are not taking proper care of the teeth and gums, this is not the way that most people catch it early.
If left untreated, trench mount can lead to serious health issues. It is an aggressive infection that can spread to other parts of the body. It can affect the cardiac system and the circulatory system.
Do not ignore the signs of a problem such as trench mouth. Take the time to contact our office to schedule an appointment to help you maintain the best oral health possible.
